Biography
Craig Ian Veroni was born on the 15th February in Cape Town, South Africa. His family emigrated to Canada when Craig was eight years old. They originally moved to Toronto before moving to Vancouver, British Columbia. He married Tamara McKay in 2002.
Craig attended Port Moody Senior Secondary School where he began to develop an interest in acting due to inspiration from his 11th grade teacher Bill Greenland. During his time at high school Craig competed in wrestling, volleyball and soccer. After graduating high school Craig attended Studio 58 Theatre School in Vancouver. He carried on his studies until the end of the second term. Due to the intenseness of the programme Craig decided to try his hand at something else. For the next six years Craig had a variety of jobs. He worked in banks, sales, for an advertising company, briefly in a restaurant and as a supermarket cashier. He then felt that he wanted to return to his original passion of acting. He re-auditioned at Studio 58 and returned to his acting training. He trained there for three years and started working immediately after graduating. Craig has been acting professionally for the past seven years and has had roles in film, television, radio, theatre, animation and commercials. He is well known for his recent role as Dr Peter Grodin in Stargate Atlantis.
Craig has many hobbies. He is a keen swimmer and has won two gold medals in the Provincial Championships (4x50 freestyle relay and 4x50 medley relay) and set new records which stood for six years. He also likes running, hiking, photography, cycling, kayaking, rock climbing, scuba diving, travelling and cooking.
One of Craig’s fondest memories takes place in Toronto. Craig had never seen snow before, having lived in South Africa, so when it started snowing in Toronto he ran out of the apartment his family were living in at the time, bare foot to see it. Other favourite memories are of graduating from theatre school and winning two gold medals for swimming.
Craig would like to have a lead role in a feature film or TV series. He has recently spent three weeks in Iran filming for a film called “Sometimes Virtual”
